Candlelight

Hello lovely crafters,
I tried a new technique for this card. There are so many interesting things to try but often I go back to the same ideas.

This is the Bokeh technique which turned out to be surprisingly easy. I watched a couple of You Tube videos then used a template of my own making.

I used a white Brilliance ink pad to sponge circles of different colour intensity over the yellow background. Some practice will give even better effects. This inkpad gives a nice shimmery effect but not very white. It's now yellow anyway!

I'd like to know if anyone has a really good white inkpad they can recommend which stamps well?

It's a new month and a new set of challenges at 52CCT. This time Fabiola has a sketch for us.

I originally made this using the sketch in this orientation but then realised it made much more sense to turn it round. Luckily I realised before I glued it down.

What have I learnt? It is good to try new things, sometimes they are easier than you imagine but might also result in new purchases!

I hope you have time to join in the challenge and do visit the rest of the DT whose cards are always varied and interesting.

Thanks for visiting and keep warm. x

  1. Hi Alison

A great technique used really well .. .. love the finished look.

I haven't come across a white ink pad that I am totally happy with yet .. .. which is why I tend to use white embossing powder a lot of the time. I will be interested to see if anyone else has come across one that behaves well.

I do like the white Stazon ink pad that you keep re-inking - especially because you can use it on acetate too .. .. but of course it is a permanent ink so you need to clean the stamps well afterwards.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Love Jules xx

  2. I'm with Jules on the ink pad comment - embossing powder always resorted to by me I'm afraid.
Your card looks really good - the circles add extra dimension - am well impressed!

  4. I love the design of your card! The bokeh circle really plays so nicely with the candle! I think this would even work for birthday candles!

  7. Your Bokeh design looks really effective. I only have the same ink pad as Jules mainly because it can be re inked. Hugs Mrs A.

  8. The bokeh effect is perfect teamed with your stamped candle image. I used to have a stazon white ink but it dried up and I had to through it out - a good excuse to go shopping! xx
