Glass butterfly

I think I've just got time to post this card before the challenge ends and it becomes yet another card which didn't quite make the deadline.

This month at CAS Mix Up Challenge it's:

It's also their 3rd Birthday. Happy Birthday!

This is not a technique I'd tried but I wanted to have a go.

It's not to difficult to get a good effect. If I'd planned the card before I started I'd have made the butterfly more colourful but I often don't know where I'm going with a card.

I die cut the first butterfly, coloured in the cut areas and then filled with glossy accents.  I was rather heavy handed with it but I'll know next time! A second butterfly was glued on top which covers any overflow. Then I added a few more white ones for the finished look.

So I've used die cutting, stamping and gems as well as the faux stained glass.
I will have to have another go at this, I think it could be lots of fun.
Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day. x

Green and gold

Good morning and welcome to another challenge at 52CCT

This week our challange is:

There are lots of ways to do this so we hope you have fun with it.
I inked the front of my embossing folder, spritzed with water and then embossed the card. I added some gold ink to the raised parts of the pattern.
The white sentiment strip seemed a little too white so I sponged some gold there too.

Pink butterfly card

Hello lovely crafters,
I have made a card for Mrs A's Butterfly challenge. I was so pleased to have made it, I relaxed and almost forgot to enter it.

I use an embossed background which I made by inking the embossing folder before running the card through the machine. You never quite know what you'll get and the last time I did it I inked the wrong side!
The flower is die cut and inked in, what I think is Cerise and then finished off with Candi. The butterfly is glued only in the middle to add a little dimension.

You still have a week to join in, I'm ahead of myself this time!

Rainbow garden

Good morning.
I've struggled rather with making cards recently. Partly I'm lacking direction and feeling a bit 'snowblind' by having too much stuff! Where do you start? What do you use?
A challenge is a good place so I looked up Stamping Sensations to see what was going on there this month.
Perfect. I got out my favourite set if Inky Doodles flower stamps and got stamping.
The I coloured the flowers using Promarkers. Only one was scratchy and running out of ink so it was mainly a pleasure.

I used rainbow colours in rainbow order. Sometimes starting at the outside petals and sometimes starting in the middle. I only got two flowers the same and it was too late when I realised.
I need a few 'any occasion' cards so I didn't add any messages.

I just wanted to show you these pictures. I do have an editing program on my computer which I don't use much (it's so complicated!). I crop and sometimes adjust the brightness but that is all really.
Have a look what you can do to the colour:

I must stress that I haven't coloured these, only played with the colour on the computer. I'm totally doing a green and purple one though, I love those colours together! It gives great ideas of combinations which I wouldn't have thought up. I wonder if I have those colour pens?

Gingerbread men

As unusual the month is rushing past. We are on the third week of our March challenges at 52CCT which means a theme:

Here is my card. I made it quite quickly and it is One Layer!

I thought I could get all the stamping to look like icing but I could only do that if I embossed everything.
Instead I stamped the Gingerbread Men in a row and then added the other images in (mostly) straight rows.
I added detail with a white gel pen and some pencils. I could have gone on colouring but stopped before I went too far. I know from experience that it's easy to spoil something by just adding a little bit more and a little bit more...

White and gold snowflakes

Good morning

We have a lovely colour combination to tempt you to join in at 52CCT this week.

After a bit of thought I came up with this idea. Eight snowflakes are die cut and glued onto the card. I cut the ninth from the front of the card and embossed in gold and, after a bit of fiddling, glued it onto the inside of the card so it shows through the cut out.

Here is the inside. Showing the gold star and gold embossed 'Merry Christmas'.

I glued the snowflakes on first before cutting out the last one which meant they were all rolled through and firmed down during cutting. This is a technique which Di from Pixie's Snippets Playground recommends but I never remember to do. It beds the die cuts into the card though I should have used a shim on the inside as there are a few marks from the base cutting plate.

I'm popping into the Playground with this as I've used snippets - of course!

March sketch challenge

March is here and a new set of challenges at 52CCT.
We always start the month with a sketch and here it is:

I used an topper image which someone once gave me. I don't normally use this sort of thing but I think it fits well here with my inked an embossed background.

The left side is clear embossing on green and the right is clear embossing with pink and green inking. I often struggle with sketches but I managed to put this together without too much of a headache.
I hope you like it an are inspired to join in with our sketch challenge.
Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day. x
