What a relief

What a relief, I'm posting a card and it's not a Christmas Card.
No it's a last minute birthday card. I used to like to plan ahead and get cards made in good time. Perhaps I'll manage that again with a bit of organisation.

First stop for inspiration was the Butterfly challenge where Mrs A challenges us to Spin the Butterfly Wheel.
Your 6 elements are Key Lime /Kobe/Kobi/Kraft/Knots+your Butterfly.

N.b Kobe = Dark Burgundy
       Kobi = Pink Lavender

Mrs A says she hasn't made these colours up but I'm not so sure. LOL.  My husband, who doesn't really think teal is a colour, would certainly think so. He also thinks pink is pink.

You can choose any or all of these elements. In the end I only used the colours though I tried to get the others on. Maybe I'll have another go.

Anyway, they are a lovely colour combination and here is my card:

I embossed the butterfly in bronze and the used inks to colour. I like the pooling effect you get with an embossed image.
I added two strips of paper to edge and then the sentiment. It turned out almost as I envisaged.
I did raise the butterfly up slightly with scraps of card on the back to give a little dimension but not too much.

Thanks to Mrs A for running the challenge.
I'm also popping into Pixie's Snippets Playground as I've used a few snippets.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day. x

Another new technique

I've been introduced to a new technique here at 52CCT. Netta has challenged us to use:

There are links demonstrating this technique here. It's really very  simple and I'm sure I'll have another go soon.

I'm sure you could create all kinds of interesting effects with different colours and stamps. We look forward to seeing what you create and you have an extra week to be creative as there are 5 Saturdays this month.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day. x

Naughty or nice

Our new challenge at 52CCT

was a proper challenge for me as I don't have any elf stamps. After trying to be artistic, I resorted to Clip Art and here is what I did:

I'm right out of my comfort zone with prints and layering. I just can't seem to do it as well as other people. I guess I should try and learn - you can learn anything on the internet, after all! By the time I've finished I have a pile of paper rejects cut into different shapes which all goes back into my file for another time.

There are digi stamps and clip art if you find you don't have any elf stamps in your stash. We certainly wouldn't want to encourage you to go out and buy more!
We look forward to seeing what you create.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day. x

Snowstorm

We have a fun colour challenge this week at 52CCT.

I don't need to be asked twice to get out my bronze embossing powder so here is the result of bronze embossing and Brushos.

Ink and water always usually make a fun effect and you never quite know what you might get.
Some turquoise colour came from the Ultra marine Brusho but I used some Turquoise as well.

I used bronze embossing for the Inkylicious sentiment too which gives a smart look. The snowflake stamps are a very old set which are actually disintegrating. I am sad as we've made a lot of cards together but it does give a shopping opportunity.

Snowflakes

And now it's August! At 52CCT the first week of the month  means a sketch challenge and here it is:

Here is my card:

A while ago, when I used to have time to watch craft channels on TV, I saw someone adding glitter and all sorts to embossing powder. Then when you heat it they all melt together. That's what I did here to these snowflakes but, because the area being embossed was small, it didn't quite give the effect I remembered. Anyway they look quite pretty and sparkly. I started with blue card and added blue glitter and pinkish embossing powder.
I layered them onto some embossed vellum with some silver thread wound round. The vellum looked better before I glued it down, you could see more of the delicate pattern. I wish I just glued around the edges but you live and learn.

We hope you have time to join in with us this week.
Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day. x
