Back to books

 Hello lovely crafters

Here is a summery card made for our new challenge at Shopping our Stash. Where we encourage you to use your stash rather than to keep adding to it.

Disappointingly there was nothing related to books in my stash so I used a book page. It seemed a bit wrong to destroy a book but I chose one which was falling apart, so no good for passing on, and I wasn't going to read again. You can't help how you are brought up ๐Ÿ˜‚

From my stash I used inks, Lisa Horton stamp set, Wink of Stella pen, fine line black pen, stencil and type stamp (unknown).

I started by inking some pages with distress inks and then spritzing to move the inks around. When it was dry I could stamp and cut out the flowers.

There is a little stencilling on the base card and also some stamping with a type stamp to fit the theme. It's very faint so you might not see it at all.
Then I arranged the flowers, added a few leaves and drew in the stems.

Finally you might be able to see some Winking on the flower centres and vase.

See if if you have anything book related to join in our challenge. You have two weeks.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy your day. X

  1. This is such a lovely card..a clever technique and at first glance you wouldn't know that you had used book pages, but a great way to recycle what otherwise would be landfill. Thanks for the inspiration. xx

  2. Beautiful card, great technique for the flowers and use of old book pages. (I bought a dictionary at a yard sale for using) Great Inspiration & how to pictures.

  3. Great way to interpret the challenge theme. I also find it difficult to take pages from books even if as you mentioned, they are falling apart and not much good for anything else. Think of it as creative upcycling ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰
