Here is my card for our latest challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown. It's a technique this time:
One way of doing this is to use a die for embossing rather than cutting. I used my Big Shot and, by trial and error, I've found these are the layers you need:
Tab 1
Cutting plate
Embossing mat
Card
Die - cutting side down
Cutting plate. I find this gives quite a deep emboss so I sometimes use card instead of the second cutting plate. I have two pieces which together are thinner than the cutting plate. I think I used the cutting plate here though.
Jennifer McGuire is the queen of this (and everything) and has a video here.
Before embossing I tapped the die with Versamark so I could add silver embossing powder and heat emboss in the grooves of the snowflake.
I hope you'll have time to join in with this lovely technique, it's not too late to get ahead with your Christmas Card.
Thanks for visiting and have a crafty day.
Lovely card, Alison. What a brilliant idea to tap the die with Versamark so you could heat emboss the snowflake. xx
